Leopard is teh Snappy

leopard
We performed the transition from OS X Tiger to Leopard yesterday on one of our laptops, and everything went smooth as silk. As with any new OS release, regardless of brand or franchise, some things can be fairly painful or downright broken, and we were prepared for the worst. After roughly three hours of installation and configuration time, the laptop was up and running with zero snags or glitches. Granted, we waited nearly two full months after Leopard was released for Apple to work out the initial bugs, but even this early in the OS's life cycle, it's safe to say we're very pleased so far.

We still have two more computers to upgrade and we're very confident the process will be just as painless. For those of you who aren't familiar with Leopard, we recommend visiting Apple's website to read about the newest features. Spaces and Time Machine by themselves are easily worth the price of admission.

Holiday Cleanup

We have finally finished up all of our last minute holiday "business", and we're gearing up for the new year. Over the next few days we'll be upgrading our computers to the newest Apple operating system, OS X Leopard. With fingers crossed and bated breath everything should go smoothly and we'll have more updates once we're finished, including pictures from Christmas and New Year's Eve. See you soon.

We Survived!

Finals are over and we lived to tell about it! We apologize for the delay in between blog posts, but it has been a pretty hectic week for us. We finished up our classes, spent the weekend Christmas shopping and celebrating, and Josh had a molar extracted on Monday. Good times. Over the next few days we'll be finishing up last minute Christmas stuff and attending follow up dentist visits.

We've also updated the photos section with some pictures we took over the weekend while celebrating with friends. We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and we miss and love all of you who are out of state. Merry Christmas!

Blindsided

We consider ourselves pretty well versed in music, both of us having eclectic and varied tastes. Making friends who are just as into music as we are has given us access to many new bands and musicians we might not have otherwise listened to. Obviously, though, they dropped the ball. Seriously, which one of them was kind enough to open our ears to awesomeness that is Muse? Not a single one. Okay, maybe it isn't their fault it took us so long to get turned onto this wonderful and amazing band, but it certainly would've been nice to have heard about them in 1999 when they debuted their first album.

If no one told us about the British rock trio, how did we hear about them? Thanks goes solely to the awesomeness that is Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. It was during an afternoon spent playing this game with Linda's brother John that we discovered their song Knights of Cydonia. It is an interesting song to be sure, but it rocks with such fervor and enthusiasm, we both get huge smiles on our faces every time we listen to it.

Upon scouring the Internet for more information about them, we noticed comparisons being drawn to Radiohead. While the lead singers do have very similar singing voices, and both bands have comparable music styles, each is very distinctive and unique. Some people have gone so far to say Muse rips off Radiohead, but the accusations are unfounded; anyone with an ounce of intelligence would have to agree. They are both incredibly talented and each has carved their own niche in rock and roll history as amazing and unforgettable. Besides, even if they are guilty of this, we can think of far, far worse bands to borrow from. Either way, Muse is definitely worth checking out and we can't recommend them highly enough.

Final Exams

Like the onset of a nasty rash, our semester final exams are steadily approaching. With the exception of the extreme egghead, I don’t think anyone looks forward to this time of year - wondering if you really spent enough time throughout the semester studying the course material, cursing the nights you blew off homework to get tanked with friends, regretting the time you spent beating “just one more level” of that pain in the ass video game, etc.

Thankfully, we both feel fairly well prepared as the zero hour looms. We hope everyone has the same level of confidence, and we have even bigger hopes that we aren’t experiencing feelings of false assurance. Regardless the outcome, our upcoming weekend will be filled with heavy consumption of caffeine enriched liquids as we pour over our study material until the wee hours of the morning. Wish us luck!
