Radio Station Woes

We're not sure how many people listen to the streaming internet radio station we have available through this site (as far as we know, only the two of us tune in), but anyone who does has probably noticed the station going down from time to time. The music is streamed from a computer in our house, randomly pulling songs from a library of over 100GB of music. If the connection through our ISP ever hiccups or bugs out, we may get a new dynamic IP address assigned once the connection is restored. If that's ever the case, we need to go in and make tunneling allowance adjustments and link updates on the site before everything is back in working order. A recent outage has the station (you guessed it) unavailable for the time being, but we'll be sure to make the necessary fixes over the weekend.

My Giant Melon

After many, many trips to various bike shops, I finally found a mountain bike helmet that fits my huge head - a XXL Specialized Air Force 3. At first I thought I was going to be stuck with a $170 helmet (larger-than-normal size helmets are not very common), but the clerk pointed out the Air Force 3 which was well over $100 cheaper. Thank you mister bicycle shop clerk guy! Linda will be very happy, too, since she knows I get a little crazy when I ride.

When it Rains, it Pours

Over the next two weeks we'll be up to our eyeballs in homework and studying as we prepare for end-of-semester final exams. On top of that, we have multiple meetings scheduled with various vendors for wedding related stuff. In other words, we are busy, busy, busy. The good news, though, is if all goes well, we'll have more information posted to the wedding blog before too long. The flip-side, of course, is the main blog will be fairly stagnant as far as upgrades go from now until May. We'll try to get stuff up as much as we can, but don't hold your breath.

Research Grant Awarded, Accepted into Psi Chi

Within the past two weeks, Linda was awarded a research grant to conduct studies on "Effects of Flavor Variety on Food Motivated Behavior in Dwarf Hamsters (Phodopus Cambelli), and she was also accepted into Psi Chi, the national honors association of psychology students. Today we attended an awards ceremony that honored grant recipients and students who have completed their research projects. Along with her friends and fellow students Jen and Sarah, as well as a multitude of other students from various departments, she was recognized for the hard work she performed while writing the research proposal. Luckily, her grandma was able to attend to help congratulate Linda for her efforts. The photos section has been updated with pictures from the ceremony and preceding reception.

Awesome Armor

pallytop
Earlier today, Kotaku, a video game news website, ran an article about the pictured set of armor. It's difficult to tell by the size of the pic (larger pictures are available at this website), but that is a real set of armor fashioned after the Judgement Armor set from the massively-multiplayer on-line role playing game World of Warcraft.

Every couple of years, Blizzard (the creators of World of Warcraft) holds a convention called Blizzcon, an event for fans to get together and celebrate Blizzard's games, as well as enjoy sneak previews of upcoming Blizzard games and products. A popular thing to do at these conventions is dress up like your favorite Blizzard characters, and some of the costumed attendees also participate in costume contests. What the existence of this armor means, essentially, is an automatic first prize. It would take a major effort by someone to create an outfit as spectacular as this, and anyone who has the chops to do so gets major props from us. We're not sure if we can justify a purchase like this with the wedding coming up, but if anyone else could show us this in person, please let us know - we'd love to see it.
